Supporting a Mission
Mission is a biannual fashion magazine that was founded in 2014 by Karina Givargisoff, a renowned stylist who has worked with Vogue, Elle, Teen Vogue and other magazines. Following a friend’s cancer diagnosis, as well as the death of her mother and brother, Ms. Givargisoff shifted her career focus from styling to a mission-driven pursuit. Sidley was asked by Goldman Sachs to represent Ms. Givargisoff as Mission’s corporate counsel. Our work has included drafting agreements with an angel investor, drafting agreements with outside parties and advising on IP and copyright issues. Each issue of the magazine is devoted to a particular cause, and a percentage of the profits go to a chosen charity. The first issue, “Wonder Women,” focused on women and power, followed by “Environment” and “Youth.” The next issue will be on LGBTQ+ identity.

“Starting the magazine, I realized that I needed pro bono legal help. Sidley gives me the confidence to keep going. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without their kindness, generosity, time and guidance.”
