Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society
HIAS is a U.S. faith-based nonprofit organization that provides rescue and refuge for persecuted and oppressed people around the world. Sidley helped the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) establish an office in Brussels to help coordinate work with the European Union and EU agencies funding refugee-resettlement programs. Founded as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in 1881 to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe, HIAS has touched the life of nearly every Jewish family in America and now welcomes all who have fled persecution.
