Disability Benefits for a Korean War Veteran
A Sidley team obtained disability benefits from the VA on behalf of a U.S. Army veteran. After more than five years of denying him benefits for lingering problems from a negligent hip replacement, which prevented him from being able to work, the VA determined that it was at fault and awarded the veteran a 100% rating. He received a check from the VA for $182,838 and will receive more than $3,000 in monthly benefits for the remainder of his life. This case was referred by the City Bar Justice Center in New York City and was taken at a joint clinic that Sidley staffed alongside volunteers from firm client JPMorgan Chase.
